Welcoming Jessica and Daniel to the House Project Team!
Posted 28th January 2022
We have had an action-packed couple of weeks at The House Project Manchester! First, we welcomed two new members of staff to our team – Jessica Whitehead and Daniel Whitaker. We are looking to use this as a great opportunity to take a breath, think about everything that has come before and to use these lessons to really build a positive environment that we can take into inducting Cohort 3 into the National House Project in April.
On Wednesday 26th January we attended the NHP Greater Manchester rollout event at Oppidan in the Northern Quarter in Manchester where we met so many inspiring young people who will be at the forefront of advising and implementing the implementation of NHP across Greater Manchester.
This was a really good opportunity for us (including our new staff and two young people from Cohort 1!) to speak to and learn from care experienced young people and professionals alike in a relaxed, friendly setting. Conversation was core to this learning experience: we are keen on working out - in tandem with the young people we support - where we are doing well, but also where we could do better. We are looking forward to taking some of the lessons we have learned from this event into our day to day practice working to put young people with experience of care front and centre everywhere we can in the work that we do.
On Thursday 27th January we all came together with Abu Siddique and Emma Collingwood from the Manchester Leaving Care Service and Becky Reynolds and Kelly Mottram from The House Project for group training on the ORCHIDS framework. After a few icebreakers (!) we had a series of extremely encouraging and productive conversations about the future of the National House Project in Manchester and how we can contribute to that as a team at the centre of the GM rollout.
