SCOTLAND LOCAL AUTHORITIES - SAVE THE DATE!

SCOTLAND LOCAL AUTHORITIES - SAVE THE DATE!

Posted 20th December 2022

In 2020 we established the first three House Projects in Scotland with the support of Life Changes Trust. Staf evaluated the work positively and the findings were shared at their Webinar in October. Young people from the projects (Fife, East Dunbartonshire and Midlothian) contributed their views on the value of relationships to the Staf Annual Conference in November and we are keen to support the development of new House Projects in Scotland.

There has been a number of interests from LAs who were unable to attend in person, and given the recent announcements of strikes and continued travel disruption we have made a decision to change this event to virtual and hold the in person event in April 2023. This virtual event will take place Wednesday 8th February 2023, 2 – 3:30pm where we will share our work and meet local authorities who are interested in how a House Project would work for their young people.

If you are interested in attending please save the date and contact:

 tanya@thehouseproject.org or

Whilst our event in February is now virtual, we will also be at the Staf Summit on Wednesday 8th March and following that we will be holding an in person event on Tuesday 18th April 2023 in Glasgow.

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards

In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

Aspirational Awards Update

In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). If you would like to find out more about how to support the Aspirational Awards please get in touch.
