Greater Manchester House Project Celebration

Greater Manchester House Project Celebration

Posted 1st February 2023

Today were celebrated the Greater Manchester Launch Event which took place at the Jigsaw Home building in Miles Platting. This event was also an opportunity to promote the success of the House Project and inform other professionals and staff about the great work we have been doing with the young people and how we have captured that and support those young people into their own property.

Another key part to this event was also a great time to communicate the effective work which has already been happening with some of our housing's providers, such as MSV and emphases to other housing providers that this collaboration of partnership working speaks for itself. MSV provides ongoing support for our young people and house them in beautiful homes that then become there forever home. This event was a great time to Network and really promote the House Project and sign-up other housing providers.

At the event we got one of our new cohort young people Mya to perform her rap that she has written about her life and struggles she has experienced being in care. This was a really memorable moment and her presences and hearing her story spoke for itself. Everyone was very overwhelmed with Mya's performance, and this was a great platform for Mya to share with others her story. The confidence and experience Mya got from this was gleaming from her and she really made the Manchester and Trafford House Project proud.

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards

In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

Aspirational Awards Update
Aspirational Awards Update

In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). If you would like to find out more about how to support the Aspirational Awards please get in touch.
