Greater Manchester House Project: 'Festive Food Bank'

Greater Manchester House Project: 'Festive Food Bank'

Posted 23rd December 2022

Here at The Greater Manchester House Project, we pride ourselves on supporting our young people and being a community. Recently, our own Greater Manchester House Project 'Festive Food Bank' was created with our young people at the heart, to ensure they were supported during a time of year which can be difficult for many reasons.

Amelia, facilitator from the Oldham, Rochdale and Bury House Project and Jessica, facilitator from Manchester and Trafford House Project joined forces to complete a food shop to create food parcels to support our young people over this Festive period. Amelia and Jessica decided to complete the shop in Asda Superstore in Hulme, which mainly consisted of items from the 'Just Essentials by Asda' range and had a shopping trolley packed full of items to create meals, as well as some snacks and hygiene products.

We would like to say a special and huge THANK YOU to Chris and Angela from Asda Superstore in Hulme who kindly donated the items to us to create the food parcels. The support has been hugely appreciated and has massively helped some of our young people during this festive period. We have received some feedback regarding how much receiving a food parcel has been beneficial:

This demonstrates how important this support is for our young people, especially considering the current cost-of-living crisis whereby many have been impacted by household bills increasing in price, among other things, therefore making things increasingly difficult.

We were able to create a number of food parcels from the donations received.

We would again like to express our thanks to everyone involved in making this happen and we would like to wish you all a happy and safe festive period and hope you have a great new year!
